Salibonani Bitcoin Family,
I woke up in the morning and went for my run. After returning, I freshened up and quickly left for the town to finish a lot of pending work. I made myself comfortable at a café in the town and met a fellow couch surfer – Naisha and her husband. She spoke to me and wanted us to work together to organize a Bitcoin Meet-up as the community was curious after talking to her. We found a place and finalized a spot for hosting the meet-up! :D
Later, I went for a walk by myself around the Town. I saw that there were easily around 300 craft shops, but most of them were deserted, due to lack of business. :/ A tough life for all the people running the shops indeed!
Anyway, I returned to the café and continued with my work. I got to meet a guy named Brad – and to my surprise, he is aware of Bitcoin! :D We hit it on and got talking about Bitcoin! The next thing I know, he’s bought me lunch (a great beef sub!) for which I paid him in Bitcoin! 😊 I also happened to get a video clip about him selling his book for Bitcoin.
Later, I walked to the other side of the bridge to the Zambian Side – where the officials give you a piece of paper with a stamp on it. I got some great photo shots and met some incredible people who showed me around. After I returned, Brad invited me over to his place – it was super kind of him to do that; I gladly accepted the offer to bunk at his place.
So, I went back home, picked up my bags, and started walking back towards the town. On the way, some kind stranger gave me a lift and I finally reached Brad’s place…or so I thought! :O I seemed to have lost my way, but then I found a stranger named Inosk, who was nearby. He helped me in finding Brad’s place. We finally found it because of the picture of the place.
Post that, we went for a few drinks, which ended up with too many drinks! :D Inosk told me that he’d come for the Bitcoin meet-up. In the night I was at a local bar and I said Cheers to a Stranger and he kinda got upset coz here they don’t say cheers to random strangers. Not so good Scenario. I walked back home.
Oh, and also, on the way in the morning when I reached the bridge that connects Zambia and Zimbabwe, I found this street vendor who was selling old currency notes (Trillions) for $20. As heartbreaking as it was, the notes were meant to be a reminder of what happens when inflation goes out of control! :D
Thanks, Nihal for your assistance.
